Howard "Butch" Edward Dunfee, age 53, of Cochranville, PA, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, DE after a short illness. He was the husband of Linda Tonge Dunfee, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Doris Randow Dunfee. Howard grew up in Kennett Square, PA, and was a 1973 graduate of Kennett High School. He, along with his son, Howard Jr., owned and operated Butch's Heating and Air Conditioning (H.E. Dunfee and Son, Inc.) Howard was a lifelong member of the Hamorton United Methodist Church and also attended services at West Grove United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce, Chester County Fuel Oil Dealers Association and the Pennsylvania Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association. He was also an employee of S.C. Shortlidge for 15 years. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved car racing and working with cars and trucks. He especially loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his dog, Duke. He was always the first to volunteer to help anyone in need. He will be sadly missed by all. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth S. Dunfee of Parkesburg, Howard E. Dunfee, Jr. and his fiancée, Gia Bruni of Kennett Square and two daughters, Heather L. Dunfee Gragg of New Castle, DE; and Faith A. VanSant Claycomb and her husband, Mark of Cochranville; six grandchildren, Kenneth Dunfee, Jr., Howard Dunfee, III and Paige Dunfee, and Crystal, Mark, Jr., and Zachery Claycomb; one brother, Arthur E. Dunfee, Jr., and his wife, Phyllis of Lancaster; four sisters, Marie A. Jones and her husband, Rodney of Grimesland, NC; Ruth A. Taylor and her husband, Richard of Kennett Square; Karen S. Detweiler and her husband, Martin of Middletown, DE; and Deborah L. Kukulich and her husband, Richard of Bear, DE; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at West Grove United Methodist Church, 300 N. Guernsey Road, West Grove, PA 19390. A funeral service will follow at 8 pm.
